Amy got her start as a metalsmith by taking classes at PRATT Fine Arts Center in Seattle in 1992. After receiving a BFA degree in Metal Design from the University of Washington, she went on to work as a professional in fine jewelry for a number of years.  She now divides her time between teaching jewelry making classes and working on her own designs as an independent studio jeweler.

 Artist Statement

Through my art, I am expressing ideas about cycles varying in length from moments to lifetimes to eons.  My work explores the relationship between the manmade and the natural, and draws influence from the structures and surfaces of botanical and anatomical objects. I am investigating the behavior of nature and the passage of time has become a recurring theme in my jewelry and artwork.
